All the boys at 6 months

Our friend from church Jenny asked the question whether or not people thought Mitch looked the same as Lucas at 6 months.

Here are a couple photos of him at about the same age (admittedly these were taken with a phone camera):

He was smaller that Sam at the same age and quite a bit smaller than Lucas. In fact he didn't reach Lucas' current weight until he was 9 or 10 months.

Here are some more photos of Sam and Lucas from the other day.

Lucas and Sam - 6 months old

Our two beautiful boys reached 6 months old today. We were hoping to go and have a picnic but the weather conspired against us. Instead we had some inside fun.

We weighed the boys today as well. Lucas (on the left above) was 8.9kg and Sam (on the right) was 8.4kg. This means that in 6 months Sam has closed the gap by about 200g since their birth.

Air Con go bang

After complaining just the other day about how bad our air conditioner has been and how many times it has been broken, it broke again last night. We were sitting watching TV and heard a bang noise from outside where the compressor unit is. Though it might have just been something falling out of the palm tree on to the unit which happens from time to time. Anyway, a little later we noticed the inside unit had stopped. I went outside and sure enough the circuit breaker for the air con had gone and when I turned it back on again the outside unit refused to work. Grrrr! Fortunately, still a month to go on the 5 year warranty.

Rusks and funny faces

Meeks, Mitch and Lucas were asleep but Sam and I were up and having a bit of a play. Sam kept on trying to chew on anything that I put within arms reach of him so I decided it was a good time to test out that tooth of his. I got out a rusk and he didn't quite know what to do with it at first, but soon got the message.

Soon big brother Mitch woke up which was very exciting for Sam

Mitch wanted to play model, but wouldn't make a normal smile, so he stuck with silly faces. Here are a couple:

Then Lucas woke up and just so he didn't feel too left out he got a photo too

Little cutie boys. It's amazing to think that on Tuesday Lucas and Sam will be 6 months old.

In other news our dishwasher has died again which is very negative. It did the same thing a while ago where it just stopped heating up for some reason, which means nothing gets cleaned properly. An expensive part had to be replaced which I suspect will have to happen again. D'oh! Don't get a Dishlex. This one has had to have major parts replaced twice now and it's only 3 years old. On the other hand it could be worse. Our LG air conditioner has basically had every part replaced at least once and had more than 10 visits from the repairman. Fortunately it has all been under warranty. The same cannot be said of the dishwasher.

Copycat

Not to be outdone by his bigger brother, Sam has caught up by having a little tooth pop out of his gums this evening.

First tooth!

Just less than a week shy of 6 months Lucas has got his first tooth poking through. Still no teeth for Sam though. It is only tiny at this stage so not really photo possible yet!

Mitch's "girlfriends"

Mitch has developed this amusing, but slightly worrying habit of refering to half naked woman he sees on the TV as his "girlfriends". It started off with Miranda Kerr, but since then he's moved on to Elle MacPherson - at least he's picking Australian super models (or former super models). Meeks was in Myer the other day with Mitch and he pointed at a mannequin and told Meeks that she was his girlfriend. A shop assistant overheard and was amused but I can just imagine what was going through her head, "What does this boy's Father teach him?".

I certainly don't sit there and watch TV and refer to the woman on TV as my girlfriend (honestly I promise I don't!) so we're not quite sure where he has picked it up from.

Hopefully it's just a phase he is going through and not one which lasts until he is a teenager when he will scare off all the girls.

Sleeping through

The little boys slept through again last night - that is two nights in a row. Fingers crossed it continues. We fed them around 6:30pm and they woke up this morning at about 6am. Lucas had woken up at around 4:30am but all he needed was his dummy replaced.

Long time no news

It has been a long time since I have blogged but aside from just about everybody having their turn or turns of getting sick not very much has happened!

Last weekend I had a very busy work weekend, which was bad news because I was quite unwell from Thursday to probably Saturday morning. I managed to pull myself together for Saturday afternoon when Meeks and I took Mitch to see Thomas Live on Stage at Acer Arena at Sydney Olympic Park. He loved it, but the 25 minute interval was a bit perplexing in a children's show. Many kids had lost interest and wanted to go home by the time interval finished. By the end of the show Mitch was more interested in the post-show ice cream that we had promised him. The good thing about working there is that I have parking. The bad thing is that I hadn't been to work for a couple of days because I had been sick and people who knew I had been at home sick were still at work on Saturday afternoon when I turned up to see Thomas (I wasn't meant to be there at that stage so I wasn't actually missing work, it just looked slightly odd - at least according to Meeks! In my eyes I had managed to work 18 out of the previous 24 hours despite being sick as a dog so I was quite happy that I hadn't let anyone down!)

Anyway, on to something different. This weekend we picked up our print of the photo I took of our feet and managed to hang it on the wall. It looks great and they did a really good job of it (so they should have given what we paid for it!). It is hanging above the dinner table. Certainly a more unusual family portrait.

I haven't had the camera out much recently because we have either been busy or sick or both, so there are no pictures I'm afraid (sorry Mum). Lucas and Sam are approaching 6 months and continuing to grow well. They are having at least one meal with solids a day now but still, generally, show little interest in sleeping through the night, although they did last night which was great. Unfortunately Mitch woke up with a coughing fit (Mitch and I have nasty cough at the moment) so it wasn't an unbroken night's sleep.

Anyway, that is all the news for now!
