Christmas Eve

I'm running a little bit behind in my blogging, but, better late than never.

Christmas Eve was a bit of a shemozzle this year because Lucas and Sam had high temperatures which weren't responding to Panadol (mainly because they were either spitting it out of pooping it out depending on what sort we were giving them) and that sort of set the scene for how everything else played out.

We were at Nana and Poppy's house for presents and a delicious dinner. The little boys had high temperatures most of the afternoon and weren't happy. They did go down for a sleep and we managed to slip in some present opening around the tree.

Then we started a delicious dinner at which time the boys, predictably woke up. They were happy for a while but started to deteriorate by the end of dinner. We managed to have a quick chat with Krissy and Glen via Skype but by then their temperatures were heading into the red zone (above 38.5 celsius) so Meeks and I took them off to the hospital while Mitch went to sleep at Nana and Poppy's. We were seen by the Triage nurse quite quickly and Lucas' temperature had come down by then (of course!) but Sam was still high. We were shown into a private room and then had to wait a looooong time to see a doctor. Fortunately there was a TV and we watched Father of the Bride which is one of Meeks' favourites and the boys went to sleep on the bed. Eventually a doctor arrived and had a good look at the boys. He said they had slightly inflamed throats and had a virus and that both of their temperatures had come down now. So we left, relieved that it wasn't something bad, but very disappointed that the evening hadn't turned out as we had hoped. We eventually managed to get home by about 12 and then after getting things ready for the following morning fell into bed.
